YOUR INFANT/CHILD'S FIRST DENTAL VISIT
Recently we were asked by a patient when she should bring
in her son for his first dental check-up. The answer was a big
surprise for her, because the answer has changed recently.
The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Academy of
Pediatric Dentistry and the American Dental Association now recommend a dental exam about 6 months after
the eruption of the infants first tooth or about 1 year of age.

ANTIBIOTIC PRE-MEDICATION FOR HEART CONDITIONS-UPDATED STANDARD
Good news for many of our patients who have been taking 4
large pills before their dental visit. The American Heart
Association and the American Dental Association have published updated
standards about which patients would benefit by continuing with

WHAT IS FLUORIDE AND WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO MY TEETH?
When we offered a fluoride application to an adult (anyone
over 18 years old) patient, there was a look of surprise and a
question, "I thought fluoride was just for little kids!" The
American Dental Association released a paper updating the use of
topical fluoride applications in 2006. Specific recommendations
with varing risk factors as well as the improved type of product
